ClickFunnels Review Is It Worth $297 A Month?

It’s hard to believe that not everyone on the planet has heard of ClickFunnels with the volume of advertising and relentless retargeting that they do. In short ClickFunnels is a landing page builder with email functionality and organises all of these pages in a sequence that is called a sales funnel. These are used to help provide visitors with opportunities to purchase your goods and services on every page throughout the buyer journey.

This is a big review and because this product does so much I think it deserves mentioning some of the key features that it provides online marketers.

What I want to do is to provide a review that cuts through the hype as I am a user of this software I have positive comments and some not so positive feedback. ClickFunnels does come with a lot of hype and an often cult like following so Ill give you my experiences using the software without the cult like behaviour

ClickFunnels has made a pretty big name for itself since it started, becoming one of the largest marketing SaaS (Software as a Service) companies around. Why there is such a devoted following comes from one of their core operating principles and that is about giving businesses software that helps them turn visitors into customers online.

This product has grown at an incredible rate and considering they bootstrapped this and didnt take any external funding it is a very high performing software company.

I associate most and I mean most online marketers as a little shady. I mean what code of conduct do they operate under and who governs them? I just take some of them with a grain of salt and don’t buy in on first glance. Saying that the team that own this software company are really talented marketers and developers who understand marketing and have it down to an artform.

They took an average landing page builder and turned it into now one of the best all in one marketing toolkits available online. They turned a very simple software into one of the most in demand softwares that marketers are adding to their tool stack.

In this ClickFunnels review, I’ll go over the features, the pro’s and con’s and then review feature sections so you can see how each part fits into the overall score. There will be positive and negatives here no ones perfect.

Regardless of whether you choose to use it or not, it’s an important software player that anyone selling online needs to take notice of and understand how it could change your business.

Now before we get into the bones of this I rated this product at 4 bags of gold and I’ll explain why later in this review. Keep reading to find out why!

What is ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels started back in 2014, but in just three years it’s been, silently revolutionizing the online marketing industry. Here’s the gist of ClickFunnels: It makes it easier for businesses and entrepreneurs to sell stuff online using otherwise complicated marketing technology, called sales funnels (more on those in a second).

What Are Funnels? How Sales Funnels Work

I work with sales funnels every day they can be as simple as a 3 page flow or as complex as your mind can imagine. But If I was to break it down to its most simple form the sales funnel is a series of web pages that connect and move a visitor through a series of sales products and offers helping the seller to offer more opportunities to sell in one connected activity.

Another example is visiting an ecommerce store and going from the product page to the add to cart page to the checkout page and that whole experience of selecting a product and purchasing it is in a nutshell a sales funnel.

Unfortunately, that still doesn’t turn many of your visitors into customers. In a brick and mortar shop, that’s like people walking into your shop but not knowing where the cash register is, so they leave the store without buying anything. In a physical store, you can talk your customers into buying something. In a digital shop, you may be a little more distant from your visitors. This is where your funnel comes in—it’s designed to appeal to your customers’ through principles of psychology. The funnel works step-by-step, bring traffic in closer and closer until visitors end up at a payment page.

I could geek out on the inner workings of sales funnels all day they are truly amazing when you break them down and tweak specific elements. Using ClickFunnels to build these is a lot of fun. Pros – ClickFunnels Review

I really like the simplicity and have everything under one platform. ClickFunnels excels at this. It does the job of saving me time and money and saves my head from exploding by eliminating the sheer number of tools and subscriptions that I need just to make great sales funnels.

This Software Will Make You Money

This software is developed by some of the best marketers online. It has one purpose and that is to make you more money. Setting up sales pages is easy and theres additional training and support for learning how to get people on those pages to convert into sales.

You should be able to get your first live sales funnel up for a beginner in an hour or two and then improve on those times as you learn the ins and outs of the software.

For people who know their way around websites and domains you should have a sales funnel up in around 30 minutes or so its that easy.

Drag and Drop Page Builder

Built with Ruby On Rails the page builder is a drag and drop interface thats so simple a beginner could design a very attractive web page. You can move and customise almost everything.

To save you even more time they build in a host of templates that have been battle tested to convert. This allows you to get entire sals funnels up and connected in minutes. Change out some content and images and boom you are on your way.

One of the things I have to say is building funnels with ClickFunnels is just fun its so much fun building and connecting these funnels I really give them points for making it so damn easy and enjoyable.

A/B testing

Built in A/B testing is great too. All you have to do is duplicate a page, make your changes, and choose the amounts of your traffic you want to see version A or B.

Integrates Into Almost Everything

The team at ClickFunnels have thought of most things when it come to integrations. They connect with email platforms, CRMs, CMSs and so much more. The way the API works is a breeze and most people techy or not can connect their platforms with ClickFunnels without needing a developer to help them.

ClickFunnels WordPress Integration

You’ll also find that there is a WordPress integration using a plugin that lets you add ClickFunnels pages to your WordPress website.

The ClickFunnels WordPress plugin is also rated a solid 4.4 stars in the WordPress plugin repository, with over 20,000 active installations. I honestly find it buggy and outdated, It should match the design and user experience that ClickFunnels platform has but it doesn’t.

I do find using the plugin to import my ClickFunnels sales pages much faster than the work I would need to do if this plugin didn’t exist. I do save myself a lot of time by using this method of integrating WordPess and ClickFunnels

Overall, I love having everything at the touch of my fingertips in one central place. Ive run businesses from spreadsheets and multiple softwares to do a simple task but ClickFunnels make it entirely possible to run your entire marketing campaigns from one central platform for one billing price.

All of this really does save you time and money. If you compound the time logging in and out of platforms it adds up to wasted time.

Reasonable Value

There are 3 price ranges and you can run most of your business on teh lowest level. I run with the $297 monthly fee because it allows email management and an affiliate manager feature with sticky cookies.

The level 1 plan allows you to do a lot and if you take the free 14 day free trial that is more than enough time to get started and get your first sale.

If you have more than 20,000 visitors and need over 100 pages, the level 2 plan is just what you need. It features A LOT of things and you will be able to run your entire online business from thsi tool.

Cons – Clickfunnels Review

I’ve got some bad news: even though ClickFunnels is overall strong, it has quite a few areas that need work.

Overpriced

While yes it can make you money it does cost money to use it. For me being in Australia we have a crumbling Aussie doller and ClickFunnels charges in USD so $297 monthly looks more like $95.17 to me 🙁

I could use the $97 monthly plan but I do really need to have the advanced options inside Actionetics for my email campaigns.

To me its worth it but for others it may not be. I would be much more positive about the price of the subscription when the Aussie doller climbs back to $0.80 of the USD.

Customer Service

I find that most of my questions are crowd sourced, and ClickFunnels does run a community sourced reward system for people who problem solve support requests. I dont really want random community members digging around my account or knowing my campaigns.

Sometimes technical support solves my problems other times I get confusing vague answers. That moves my request into a open source problem solving queue.

Cult-like user base and software too reliant on Founder

Looking at the community from the outside you can see a very cult like pattern of behaviour. Russell Brunson has openly discussed how he used to study the worlds cult leader for tips on how to start a cult and get the reactions cult members have for his own product. No harm in wanting to build an army of fans but cults are taboo.

The marketing tactics are amazing well delivered but for anyone watching and paying attention you can see the breadcrumbs. There is a cult like movement happening in the ClickFunnels world.

It just takes you opting in to one of their funnels to see the writing on the wall. Very hype driven and fast paced leaving you sometimes a little dazed by what just happened. There will be a full suite of tools, courses and ebooks thrown at you if you open your wallet and thats just the start.

Hats off to their marketing team they have grown the company from start up to HUGE with no captial investments and fully bootstrapped.

Facebook Group.

Ive joined the Facebook group to learn how others are using it and in what niches but my feedback is for beginners maybe dont go into the Facebook group for at least a month or two. There are some good general tips of how someone makes it work for them but in that same breath we are talking about marketers here.

There is usually a landing page linked in teh comments or post that the user is trying to build a list and audience to promote their stuff to. This brings upo another sore point that is a large chunk of the community is people bragging about how much money they made and flashing their sports cars. Though these numbers are may be real, they give an impression that its teh quick buck they are after and not long term success.

ClickFunnels has helped people do great things, but it’s also helped proliferate quick rich schemes, online courses, saturation of coaches and experts, and other spammy internet marketer stuff.

We all know the founder is a marketing wizard, but so much of the product is tied to his brand and his philosophy. As much as I appreciate the landing page builder, everything around it seems like an extension of Brunson’s platform.

Template feel

There are hundreds of thousands of ClickFunnels users and a lot of tehm will be using the templates for landing pages. This isnt really a big deal yet but as they grow more and more of those highly tested fopr conversion template pages will start to lose their feel and convert a lot less as they became the inndustry standard for template look and feel.

A lot of people put minimal thought into their sales pages and use templates over and over again. I like to build custom pages and have unique features and try to stand out more than the next guy. You should to if you pick up this tool.

Software Outages and Bugs

Every now and then, ClickFunnels will go down or experience some errors. Though this really doesn’t happen often, there’s little you can do but wait. They do have a enourmous user base and are growing weekly. I understand server load issues and trying balance that with resource serving but as a paying cuistomer I really just want it to be sorted out.

If you’re investing a lot in advertising or driving traffic to your funnels and a ClickFunnels’ glitch brings your pages down for even a few hours, you can potentially lose a lot of money.

I would love to see a notification feature or a automated redirect feature where if your page goes down they automatically redirect to the root domain or a safety page for lead capturing.

ClickFunnels Pricing – How much is Clickfunnels?

ClickFunnels has three pricing plans—Standard, Platnium and Collective. The level 1 standard plan is $97 USD a month, the Platnuim level 2 plan I use comes in at $297 USD monthly and the newest plan is the level 3 ClickFunnels Collective plan coming in at $1,497 monthly. Huge jump in price points there.

I use the level 2 plan for everything and also don’t miss that 14 day free trial. Ive been able to use that and make that monthly subscription fee back in less than 6 days so you can get the free trial to pay for your actual subscription.

sTake the free trial see what its all about and then you don’t need to commit to an expensive plan right away. If you pay annually instead of monthly, you get two months free so a small saving is better than none.

Those fees when converted from USD to AUD are a bit hefty hey? Well, some would say so, and I can see why—especially if you compare to Thrive Themes & Leads, a similar (overlapping, but definitely not identical) service which starts at $25 a month. However, it is important to keep in mind ClickFunnels’ main service is to make funnels more efficient, and it does a pretty good job. I personally consider it a good investment.

The main differences between an entry level account and a premium account are as follows: StartUp gets the main service, the funnel-builder, with some limitations on the amount of pages (100), visits (20,000), custom domains (3), and only some of the full list of features.

Pricing levels for clickfunnels software

These plans have a huge jump in price per month and not as much is reflected in the features per plan. Each of these plans comes with the A/B split testing features meaning you could use that to turn average pages into money making pages.

The unlimited allowances are only for the two laregr plans and really do you need unlimited funnels and pages? prob not.

All plans allow share funnels where you can share ytour funnels and use other peoples shared funnels. FunnelFlix, Funnel hacker forum and chat support are same across all plans.

You should look at the number of custom domains you are allowed per account. This is pretty important, also ClickFunnels is not to be used for agency style client management you should be working in your clients account if you are an agency.

Platnium and Collective are where you have more control around your email marketing and payment gateways and teams.

To summarise the differences, ClickFunnels standard plan gives you everything the bigger plans have except follow up funnels with Actionetics email tool, Peer reviews, and a much lower limit on what you can have active in your account at one time.

Features Overview – Clickfunnels Review

How are ClickFunnels’ features overall? I think they’re solid and you get everything you need. They’re very intuitive and you have enough control to make a online business from this platform.

The way the funnel builder works and organises all the page steps in the funnel it does make it easy to manage your sales funnels and overall your online business.

A/B split testing is a smaller feature, but definitely a notable one.

If you duplicate a page and make changes to the copy, the split test basically lets you choose what percentages of your traffic you want to see per page, letting you test conversion rates very handily. It’s a great function and very easy to use.

I also think ClickFunnels is overall flexible and straightforward for other settings, like your account details or integrations. Maybe very tech literate people would find them restrictive (a common theme among some criticisms), but as the service is supposed to be easy to use, I thought the basic features were pretty good.

There are quite a few types of available pre-made funnels, oriented to different types of businesses, and you can of course build your own funnel from scratch too.

Actionetics and Backpack

These addons didnt make any sense when I first purchased ClickFunnels the naming conventions were not very clear what they did or the importance they played in the ClickFunnels universe.

Actionetics is an email marketing tool that helps you build email lists, segment contacts and manage automated email sequences. This email auto responder is very robust and provides a smart analytics dashboard where you can review campaign performance.

You will have the ability to run SMS text messaging campaigns from this tool as well. I dont do any of that so I wont cover it in this review.

Backpack tool is used for managing your own affiliate program. This intends to make overseeing the affiliate army you command easier and more efficient.

If you’re in a position where you can afford the bigger plan give it a go or take a 14 day free trial. I dont think everyone needs these two added tools to manage a business, but for my business I need that robust email marketing feature and some affiliate management functionality so it suits me.

The level 1 plan will suit most users but again buy this based on your needs and what you are aiming for with your business.

Clickfunnels Review – Page Builder

This is probably ClickFunnels core feature. I feel it is one of teh best features about this product and provides a lot of flexability when building landing pages. The page builder is solid and for beginners this will be a huge plus for you getting landing pages up and running in no time.

Interestingly ClickFunnels shrugs away from labelling itself as a page builder software and advertises itself as a complete funnel building software even though its main function is that of building landing pages.

You can see a lot of templates listed in the images here and thats only a screenshot there are a lot more. The best landing page are the ones that you can create that speak to your audience with your message. Templates don’t have that power of connection. You can also purchase add on funnels from the marketplace, these are tested and have proven sales generated and make it easy to use a specific style of design.

When you build a really high converting funnel there is a feature to clone the funnels or save as favourites to use again and again. The template library is really easy to navigate and filter page types by a sidebar filter system. Super easy.

Once you load a template you like everything switches to a drag n drop page builder. This page builder is fun and easy to use.

The editor uses a page structure with four main parts: sections, rows, columns, and elements. The rows, columns and elements sit inside of sections.

Like this:

You can have multiple sections per page. Rows and columns go inside sections, but columns specifically go into rows. This way you can have a row with one column, or up to four. Elements are the dynamic bits that go inside columns and make your page interactive to its visitors.

It may sound complicated, but it’s pretty easy to get the hang of. Everything is color-coded see above image for the colours used. Section is the foundation with everything else sitting inside of it. The row and column work side by side and form the layout of your pages. Then the elements are the filler for the page and its really as simple as that.

You can also edit by section, row, column, and so on, from the side bar. All the little details and parts of your page can be moved or altered. You have full control.

The template editor allows for plenty of customisation, but offers good control too. You can do all sorts of things—mobile previews, edit colours, text, settings, and just about anything you expect.

The page builder comes with really good UI and it works as intended but the only restriction I see is that you need to work within the columns and rows set by the builder.

If you do save your work in the builder give it 4 seconds or so to actually save before checking your work. It needs to save your edits first before you will see them appear.

You can do a lot in the page builder it is one of the more stable builders available online.Everything in the settings is straight forward and they have multiple settings and adjustments available for all common elements.

Using the page builder is fun. I enjoy how seamless it is to build pages and make changes I do really rate it as a builder.

Key takeaway: this builder serves ClickFunnels’ goal: to make it easier for you to make money online.

ClickFunnels Integrations

Integrations are exactly what they sound like: other marketing tools you integrate into the ClickFunnels software. There are a few different types of integrations you can add to your ClickFunnels account: email, webinar, SMS/text, and actions.

I have not used the text message options in my campaigns so I wont comment about them. But it is possible to deliver sms marketing campaigns.

You are not limited tio using ClickFunnels built in tools for everything there is a choice. I was using MailChimp for the emails before I fully converted to the native Actionetics email tool. This was an easy integration that took no more than 3 minutes.

ClickFunnels has partnerships with some pretty awesome third party platforms and when you do volumes like they do it gets easier to negotiate better deals for your community.

If you go to the integrations settings page, you can search for these or just click the search bar and they will show up as you type.

When you need to integrate ClickFunnels into other third party tools you can connect most platforms quite easy with a couple of clicks of a mouse button. I did find this process really easy and I understood this on first attempt with very minimal assistance.

Overall they provide a very simple way of adding and managing integrations.

Payment gateways are something you will 100% require if you plan on making money from yoru landing pages. Payment gateways get integrated and on other software platforms are just called integrations, but on ClickFunnels they get a section separate from integrations. They may also be known to ClickFunnels as billing integrations.

Your shop won’t really be much of a shop unless you’re using a payment gateway.

Managing all of these integrations is pretty easy. In my experience, these integrations usually run smoothly and you don’t need to reconnect them once they are setup and connected.

Ease of Use – ClickFunnels Review

If you haven’t picked it up by now, ClickFunnels’ main sell is its ease of use—as their ad says, “Don’t waste any more time with ‘tech guys!’” this is 100% accurate.

The key to their success is simplicity of something thats been such a headache for so long in online marketing. Sales funnels can be complex but they dont have to be. Beginners can pick up ClickFunnels software and do all of the things.

But ClickFunnels is still not a silver bullet for all your marketing needs. You will still need to know how to market and write sales copy. Understanding domains and email SMTPs and all the basics of connectivity are still required. You cant just run ClickFunnels and be sweet.

For beginners: you may be overwhelmed to start with but once you learn the navigation and what things are named you should be fine in a day or sooner. Actually Russells first book Dotcom Secrets is all about how to use ClickFunnels and the art of building a sales page.

As someone who had multiple tools and platforms for building sales funnels before ClickFunnels I think its a huge time saver and feel much better knowing everything is under one roof. They have the support team in place and a database of docuemnts and videos to help get you doing great things with the tools.

You might be just like me and have such a good time making funnels with the builder and connecting everything that you end up with lots of random themed funnels in your account. The doing is so much fun, the drag n drop editor is great and so easy to use.

The navigation menus are easy to use and everything is 1 or 2 clicks away. The hardest part should be connecting your payment processors and CRMs etc and when I say hardest I mean 2 to 3 clicks of a button.

While the sales approach is its dead easy to use, it is and it isnt there are parts that are buggy and need a little more reading around what and how to do it. But for the most part its very easy to use. Another small problem is updates and when they move buttons or features and you need to go looking for them, some simple communication would be appreciated but it is not the end of the world.

Key takeaway: very easy to use with some reading required and be prepared for a fun time building your online empire.

Who is ClickFunnels for?

This is my view on who its really for, I think the people who benefiot from this product the most are business who use onkline traffic as their main source of revenue.

In short if you use paid traffic in your marketing you will get great results from ClickFunnels. You could run your business with just ClickFunnels and a payment processor.

You will notice when you subscribe that some templates are very focused towards Dentists, Gym owners, Restaurants and very niche businesses.

In all transparency ClickFunnels wins the most from anyone signing up and they want you to stay in their ecosystem and spend with them. I get it and I understand its business. For SaaS businesses competition is relentless, and oh boy does ClickFunnels have a long list of competitors.

While these templates help you get something up quickly you can 100% build from scratch your own funnels. These funnel templates are great but a little template feeling especially if you are seeing a lot of funnels.

Customer Support – ClickFunnels Review

ClickFunnels’ customer support is one of teh products weaker features. I really do appreciate all support workers in IT and marketing it is a tough job. This support team being used is great at trying but at actually solving problems is where they fall over on their sword.

I like how you are able to search the support knowledgbase for problems that you may be having thats great and saves time.

The only support request I was not able to have resolution around was adding Australian GST tax identifiers to my customer receipts. They directed me to Stripe who sent me back to ClickFunnels and the endless loop that I have still not resolved.

Ive not had a many problems with customer support although I do have one tehcnical issue with how I show local tax on reciepts. Apart from that one issue Ive had really good support expereinces with the direct support team.

Overall Support Rating

Direct support does a great job and when they cant handle teh technical questions there is community support and Ive had mostly good expereicnes with community support.

Conclusion – ClickFunnels Review

My final comments:

I found ClickFunnels really easy to use and fast when I want to get a new landing page up I can blaze through the setup and have a new funnel ready in about 35 minutes including emails and payment gateway setup. It really does save me time. 4 out of 5 money bags! 💰💰💰💰

The speed that you can pick it up and run with it and have live pages is really imnpressive. Beginners will find this helpful.

I really enjoy using it and get a lot out of it for my moneys worth. If I pay $297 and can make even double that in return from using the software then I’m happy with that. Saving me time and money I do rate this highly its just some small things that they could address to make it the most all in one platform for marketers.

I use a lot of page builders and email tools and having this in an all in one rocks my socks. The templates and funnel flows can save me so much time when I find a new niche opportunity and want a funnel launched on that day.

My negatives are the over hyped self promotions, buggy at times and some members of the community who want to empty your wallet.

The key takeaway is for an all in one marketing toolkit this ClickFunnels product is solid. A well polished option that is ahead of most competitors and continuing to grow. Price as an expense verse revenue attributed to this tool I’m fine paying for it because of what it helps me generate in revenue in return.

How To Hold Yourself Accountable

How many times have you planned to build that affiliate site in that awesome opportunity niche but you didnt?

How many times did you plan that masterpiece content hub article but didnt?

If you are like me and have a stream of new ideas at every second of the day and take time out to capture those thoughts and plans then this is for you. I also and it is a weakness I know I have, is I do not have enough time in the day or the week to take action on every idea.

This has stalled my growth more often than helped to grow my businesses. As opposite as that sounds but having all these new ideas forces me to take my eye off the prize. I get distracted by these new thoughts and by the time I plan out the last new idea I already had three more new ideas and Ive mnoved on to those.

This was the thorn in my achilles heel when I started out online. I would move from thought to thought and not give the last idea enough attention to get the momentum rolling.

What I did was join an accountability group. This was a group of new and intermediate marketers that I had never met. A friend had suggested I join a forum about internet marketing and web development and taking that advice I joined a forum.

Join a Group and Hold Others Accountable

This was very easy to take action advice. Ill be very transparent that this was one of the biggest success factors that I found working online. Having the power to hold my peers accountable made me appreciate my own workload and to do list.

The rules of the group were pretty simple, we had to meet up online every Tuesday night (for me it was Wednesday morning Im from the future) and present our weekly target list and if we had completed last weeks target list. I got a few comments in my first three meetings for not taking it serious and for not doing the work.

I will say when you get into the routine and prep before hand it is really entertaining to hear how people are doing and the success they are having. It all fell on two things.

1 Planning your week

2 Doing the work

Its that simple, the accountability group members that planned ahead of time were the most successful. The group members that were doing what they had planned were also the same ones who were planning ahead and seeing amazing results.

I’m still in touch to this day with 5 of the 15 from the group. They all have very successful bsuinesses and our timezones are a little more accommodating for the 5 of us.

Once I was on the spot in front of the groupo saying I had 3 thing sto do that would literally take me all of 20 minutes to complete it was clear to everyone I was not planning ahead and just rocking up hoping for it all to work. The advice and telling off I got from the group was great and look no one wants to be told they are slacking off but it was so true I was.

The moment I would prep my week or month in advance and track it using teh tools and standard operating procedures or SOP’s I would see gains on earnings, rankings and visitors on my sites.

Find an accountability group and stick it out. Even if you only take away the behaviours of those getting the results that should be enough to light a fire under your chair and get you working smarter and getting the results you want to change your lifestyle for the better.

What Tools Helped Me Stay On Top Of My ToDo List

I had notebooks and notebooks of ideas, plans, processes and diagrams that I could never find or organise. I knew that I had to take the ideas out of my head and to put them online and for years I bounced between Asana and Trello and also notekeeping with Notion and evernote without finding the one todo tool to rule them all.

Know your Strengths and Weaknesses

Ive always been very self aware and thats been a big strength for me working in teams or alone I knew my limits and my absolute strengths. I know that accountability and doing everything I said that I would was one area I was slipping. Not in my personal life just my own affiliate marketing work, I would buy these domains with the intention to domainate a market and I would get as far as buying teh domain name before I would move on to something else.

How Accountability Helps You Get Success:

It gives you a heads up on the bumps in the road ahead, especially if your networking with others in similar positions or journeys. You can learn from their mistakes to optimise your time and productivity.

It drives the resources you’ll require because of the shared knowledge. One really cool thing that I got from my accountability group was sharing resources with some other group memmbers. We pooled our budgets that we had set aside for virtual assistants and would use the same VA for our work meaning we would all pay a third of his day rate cost. This saved us money and allowed us to collaborate across projects.

We would share other tools later in our online journeys making the group a real valuable asset for me to really learn and absorb from everyone who was involved.

You come up against a lot of challenges in the online space. Technical or skill related and they can stall your growth until you figure them out. But having a accountability group also doubled as a knowledge share group as well. It was very clear who the operator’s were in that group and how they behaved when problem solving changed my view of the word “I Can’t”. I would listen to those guys talk about overcoming challenges and be in absolute awe. They became my motivators because I didnt want to be that guy in our group who couldnt figure out how to set up his website. I wanted to be an operator.

How do you figure it out for yourself?

You could try and guess or think that you already know and commit to what you already know.

I would scratch your own self assesment and create a little sheet to assess yourself.

First up list out everything that you love doing
List down the thing that makes you the happiest in thsi line of work
What gives you headaches?
What do you really hate doing?
Does money motivate you?
Does accomplishment motivate you?
How do you work alone?
How do you work in teams?
What do you do when you make a mistake?
What do you do when a team mate messes up?
What do you do when you encounter a problem?
What do you do when a team mate has a problem and asks for help?
Ask a friend if you need to (thats cool as well)

You should have a list of things you like doing and really enjoy and a list of things you dont really enjoy and some of your own characteristics.

Take the time to do this before you decide to woerk in a team if you have never worked with a remote team before, and also if you are starting a new business or affiliate business work out your style and how you work best.

This is one of the biggest factors in helping me get over a earning limit because I could be held accountable.

My thoughts originally were to use this for my own portfolio’s benefit but then its better to share so we all get a slice of that cheese. I know a lot of people are in struggletown with businesses collapsing and money running dry.

There is a huge shift in how people are using online search now and the daily habits of each user. This is new territory for all of us especially online marketers. Ive seen some crazy stuff growing in popularity and search interest thanks to Google trends. At times like this its important to keep your head on the swivel.

Below I will list what Ive seen and what you can use to sell more while isolated at home.

In my younger years collecting and trading NBA basketball cards was my addiction. Collecting all the rookie cards of the big players took most of my after hours time when I wasnt actually playing ball.

But the unique situation we are in is that all major sports leagues are in exile sadly. So what type of trading cards can be used in this corona virus time? Surprisingly still sporting cards and battle cards.

Most sporting team cards are still growing in popularity the weird thing is with the seasons suspended these leagues are still growing in popularity. There are millions of people at home and what do you think the TV networks are doing? they are showing replays and sports from the past. This is what is helping propell the rising interest in these trading cards.

Ive never been a magic cards collector guy, Ive got friends who are huge dungeons and dragons nerds, White Dwarf and Magic The Gathering card collectors. These card collections are exploding right now so how can you pivot to include trading cards in your product sales? can you make a set of cards on your industry.

I’m seeing huge popularity spikes in this niche. Think of all the dads stuck at home and the lack of live sport on TV, and then think what is one really great way for parents to bond with their kids? sports of course. With the parents and kids at home trading cards with popular sporting stars is one sure fire way to strengthen a bond by using sports trading cards. Kids also love those battle cards and using powerups and level up type cards, this is like old school Pokemon but with cards.

PLUS… due to the economic slowdown, a lot of collectors are strapped for cash, which means that you can “buy low” right now. This is a perfect product for our buy low sell high strategy.

Trading card money is made in two ways:
This niche is one for collectors so finding and collecting full sets is a valuable focus and also finding those rare cards, limited print cards and the big stars rookie cards.

Another tactic is a little more of a gamble but buying stars that are about to rise as as valuable or popular players. This can be a little harder in our current now because the players are sidelined. But there is big money in flipping these cards much like stocks the players stock value rises and falls as their performance reflects on impact.

Designer hand bags & Perfume

Weirdly as we are all self isolating and social distancing so why would someone need a designer handbag it boggles the mind. I’m not a fancy guy I really enjoy thrifty shopping and functionality of clothing and accessories. My girlfriend HATES when I buy clothing and accessories based on functionality 😆.

Designer Handbags and Perfume are spiking to all time highs right now. Ive seen post after post after post around these items being hunted online. I get that all the stores that sell these are closed except pharmacies or chemists but they sell knock off garbage perfumes not designer.

When shoppers cant get hold of products they want that product goes into high demand. There are still a lot of people who have excess money that they want to offload and dont forget about people pre corona virus who were excessive shoppers who now have to commit to getting their retail therapy online.

With designer handbags and name brand perfumes being a huge interest all you need to do is know where to look to find these items at wholesale prices. There is so much fraud in the space that finding real, authentic fragrances can be a challenge so dont just go to AliExpress and get that channels perfume because its a knock off and can get you into all kinds of problems. This does present a real opportunity for selling the real brands and NOT cheap imitation handbags and fragrances.

My advice is to take 2 angles for this and present yourself as a wholesale buyer, liquidator and bulk buyer of goods and look for auctions, liquidations and wholesale places for opportunities. Most people who do this normally may be laid off or on leave.

The second angle is as a seller and store owner of a store that sells these things.

The overview of how this works:

Know what brands are in demand
Buying at a low price
Know what marketplaces to be promoting that you have these products
Negotiating and promoting your webpages where you will sell these items
Sell product at a higher price than you paid for it

There are entire markets and buyer types to flip high end colognes, designer handbags and perfumes to. I am far from the target market so this niche was new for me to be diving into but the riches are in the niches and as far as I can tell this niche is ripe for the picking. There were so many people searching for and asking for these products that it would be hard not to make money if you have the actual products.

This right now presents a very rare opportunity for you to buy low priced items and sell high on your website to an already hungry to purchase audience.

THIS is a perfect product for our tactic of buying low and selling high. I hope you can start to see the shift in perspective of how Im looking at the markets now.

Buying Businesses and Websites

I love domain flipping and business flips. These have been a huge part of my income over the last 3 years. In a nutshell I buy a website or business at a low investment price and perform some work to these websites using my online marketing skills to create a website that now functions as a high converting store or lead generating website.

This is the perfect time to start looking for investment opportunities. A lot of businesses have closed or are closing their business down. There are also a lot of websites that people who used to have employment that no longer do and can not sustain the fees for running and managing websites. This is a sad reality of what this virus has done to the economy.

I would look at Flippa, Gumtree, Shopify Exchange or FE International and look for businesses for sale. The filters will help you navigate to the most relevant opportunities for you. I set filters ranging from $3,000-120,000 so I have a range of business types.

Now this is a longer play and not a buy today and flip tomorrow unless you work very fast. This takes me riughly 2-4 months to get my hands on teh new purchase and make some cosmetic edits and some backend changes to get that site healthy and looking good. I also like to track activity on teh front end of the website buy adding Google Analytics and reviewing any affiliate programs, ecommerce settings or existing CRM type sale systems.

My process revolves around taking something that is not working for someone else and refining what they have on the front end. It needs to look nice for people using the website. I like to then focus on backend adjustments to make sure the website is Google friendly and in good health. Once Ive done these two steps my entire focus on the UX and conversion rates of the website.

When I am happy with the data I have and the visitor engagement is looking healthy I will start to get the site ready to flip for a much bigger payday.

Make Immediate Changes To Your Business To Stay In Business.

The world is under some intense pressure to conform right now.

This had me worried about my network of friends and collegues and how they were coping with the worldwide problem right now. So I asked in one of my groups how people were pivoting and gave an example of what I had done in my agency to adapt.

Have you done anything different in your business thanks to the virus just to keep afloat?

I’ll share some of the planning and changes I’ve made that hasn’t resulted in being in damage control. I believe cash is the biggest positive to have in a crisis. A big focus was cutting wasted spend.

Week 1 – reduced and negotiated all software expenses, insurance and anything that was on the expenses list. Got this list as lean as possible

In the war room identified stages of escalation. Lose 10% revenue what do we do. Lose 20% revenue now what and do on.

Forecasted how much $ we needed to get through 3 months and then 6 months.

No clients paused or cancelled

8 new clients 2 upsells

Week 2 – cut all R&D projects. Identified team members who were low impact vs the expense to the business ( harsh but necessary), lower impact tasks pushed back so higher impact tasks can be delivered this gives value to clients in coming weeks.

Identified client issues, concerns and formed plans. Created company internal comms plan, created external comms plan.

Moved entire team to work from home.

A handful of pauses and 1 cancellation

5 new clients and approx 4 upsells

Week 3 – last week this was tough week.

Let go of 4 staff. 1 was performance problems 3 were to protect the business cash flow.

Parted ways with remote team HR company.

It’s still busy and lots of meetings and pitches taking place.

Another handful of pause requests and 4 cancellations.

2 new clients 4 upsells

this week – who knows I’ve heard the domestic boarders will shut on Tuesday meaning shit will hit the fan.

Still clients saying business as usual and a jewellery actually 2 of my jeweller clients have increased spend and added extra services so bizarre.

New prospect meetings this week approx 6

Upsells it’s not even Monday yet

This is a pretty unique situation we are all in and the key is innovation and being the marketing leader your clients need you to be right now.

If you are a business make some pivots into new territory try new things and adapt as best you can.

Some businesses are getting CRUSHED right now and some are growing 🌱

I’ve been thinking constantly about what differentiates failing vs thriving businesses during this health crisis. What type of business can make it through this situation and what businesses are going to fail because the governing bodies have imposed very strict rules. By the time I publish this a lot of countries should be in various stages of lockdown.

These lockdowns are going to cripple economies. I agree to a small degree with Donald Trumps view of keeping the economy open, but the risk of death is just to great a downside. He is right that the impact of this on the economy will go on for years but that does not mean we should ignore human life just to keep the economy open for business.

My mind also went into overdrive with possible opportunities to pivot into. I honestly lost a lot of sleep thuinking about this and how I could help not just my own businesses but clients, friends and family.

One of my goto tactics is SEO. There is such a huge advantage you can have by knowing how to drive free traffic. I can still see a large volume of search trends with commercial intent and this is the plus side wth people stuch at home.

There has been some cancellation requests and pause requests. But speaking with them as business owner to business owner and going through what offensive and defensive strategies have they put in place it became really clear that they didnt have a plan. The bulk of the requests were from scared business owners who acted on what they read in the news.

My affilaite sites are going ok im down 40% and have 60% operating as normal or slightly up on previous months. My training consulting and digital info businesses are going good a slight spike in interest and signups so Im happy to see that part of the business staying stable.

People have been asking about new courses and where they can learn specific skills and thats been great Ive been able to direct people to my network for some specific trainings. When there is not much else on and people are stuck at home learning new skills is a big plus for everyone.

So, from a Client SEO standpoint, I would be looking at focusing my sales on businesses that are not hurt or not hurt as much by this situation. This shift is one way you can stay in business.

If we narrow our search down to home services, then we want to look at services that are not option/urgent/emergency…

My roof was about to collapse last week the nails of the timber beans were coming through my ceiling. I called the local roofing company that built my house and they came out ASAP because they didnt have much work going.

They came over and in 48 hours I had a safe to live in house and my roof was supported and ready for me to come back to live in my home. This also generated work for a painter as the roofer guys made a mess of the celing.

People will still have emergency work that needs doing, there are more people at home and more chance that something breaks and they need ASAP! emergency assistance.

These local service type businesses may be quiet but the customer service they can deliver now is there chance to build a stable book of loyal customers because they can act faster and do a better job. They wont have to shuffle appointment times, or use junior tradies to do the work or rush off to the next job. If you get what Im saying.

That said, there are plenty of business that are aggressively hiring right now! I let go of some very talented employees and was able to move them into new employment from people in my network.

I want to highlight that I was taking action on this the moment I heard rumours around lockdowns, travel bans and the words epidemic. Those actions mean problems for businesses. You may read above my week by week action plan and think I was a bit quick to let people go. My businesses move very fast and in a situation like this I want to be ahead of the curve and proactive. Letting go of employees hurts but when teh smoke clears those people except the one with performance issues will be contacted to rejoin the company.

This right now is the perfect time for your employees to be upskilling themselves. I know that when the smoke clears there will be some extraordinary talent available for hire meaning that the skill and talent of your team can be uplifted by some smart talent hiring with the people who will be on the market for employment.

You just need to buy more time to hold out until there is a cure and the lockdowns pass.

What Changes Can You Make In Your Business Right Now?

1 Finances

Have a real look at what can be cancelled, reduced and negotiated down in price. Your expenses should be as lean as possible. If you don’t really need it to do business cut it right now.

These are some questions I raised with my team:

What can you cancel?
What can you defer payments on?
What can you negotiate down in cost?
What can you use as needed and not subscription?
What can you share costs with someone else?

2 Redundency

Staying on finances here look at your salaries and contractor expenses. It might be good to get your operations or managerial team together and do a head count of your team. I found this less difficult than I first thought, my leadership team and I all agreed to remove emotion fro our choices and only hard data.

How we assessed this was by asking these questions:

What does this person do?
How much impact do they have on client performance?
How have they performed this year?
How many mistakes have been reported?
How much are they paid?
Can we operate without them?

This can be confronting but when it means letting go of all of your employees or letting go of 2 or 3 of the lowest performers the choice as a business is sad 😥 but logical.

3 Leadership

Now more than ever its critical for you to be a leader if you own the business, if you are management you need to keep your cool and be someone that your team can go to for guidance.

At the end of the day you are teh future of teh business. If you can guide the company in teh right direction you will have the undying support of your team no matter what. If you are eratic and start crashing into obstacle after obstacle I urgently suggest you reach out to a business consultant and get help.

If you or your management team are flustered the team will fall apart. No doubt about it, strong leadership can get the team through anything.

4 Professional Consulting

This is optional but if you are not a finance whiz or HR law professional or other issues related to your business right now hire someone who is a pro at these things.

This does not mean you are a failure it just gives you support in what is a very unique time. I have finance consultants and have formed a network of agency owners where we have been sharing our plans, our losses and any wins. This has been great for my confidence and understanding of just how prepared I really am for this wave of insanity.

Protecting your business is just as important as protecting your money. If this happens again I would be getting a finance consultant in earlier to help me be even more prepared.

5 The Offense and Defense Strategy

This might sound like a sports strategy but it works. If you can break down your defense tactics and your offense tactic you start to have a clear plan of what to do.

There is a lot of action you can take to get your business in the best possible position it can be for the upcoming market nosedive. Ive made a lot of changes to allow my agency and other businesses to function throughout the next 12 months without having to worry too much about cashflow.

Offensive Strategy

Get positive messaging out on your blog and in email sequences
Clear communication with employees
Help employees prepare for the worst
Help employees get their home finances in place.
Clear communication for clients
Clear communication to contractors and partners
Be smart about where your Ad spend is going (CPC is lower now)
Partner up with other businesses, share costs
Give something of value away for free
Use or start using affiliates to help you sell more
Offer coupons, gift cards anything buy now or payment instalment.

Defensive Strategy

Get cash in the accounts
Cut the expenses
Reduce Ad spend
Negotiate payment terms with vendors
Freeze hiring, bonuses, raises
Review employees for keep, go on leave, let go
Pause all contractors who are non essential
Employees work from home (during the virus containment period).
Review all marketing campaigns so your messaging is not offensive or in poor taste

These 5 strategies can help change your business for teh long term. If we recover from this corona virus and in 5 months we get hit with a new strain of virus at the very least you will be in much better position.

The biggest problem businesses face that I can see if the uncertainty of when this will be over. This is influencing peoples buying behaviour, all you need to do is look at the toilet paper craze and how preppers are snatching all the poo tickets up.

Sidenote: I actually thought throughout this whole toilet paper buying craze that one of teh main manufacturers had done some wild viral marketing and thats how this wave of bulk buying started. I was looking for any tell tale signs that someone created the need for bulk buying toilet rolls.

I have not found anything that can confirm this.

In this GroovePages review, you’ll learn everything about GroovePages, GrooveFunnels and the difference between GrooveApps and GrooveKart.

I didn’t understand all the “Groove” when first learning about this software but after using the different tools on offer I could see why they named everything Groove, it’s because you can really get into a Groove when working with the software.

The thing GroovePages does so well is extend your online business capabilities to touch different parts of the automated sales funnel. Something every online business should have.

GroovePages pricing plans are pretty straightforward as you will see in this review. I purchased a lifetime deal way back in 2019 when it was brand new and nowhere near the full suite of tools that is today. I loved the concept of end-to-end sales funnel builder, that was the affiliate marketers’ dream.

I like most people appreciate a good Lifetime Deal, and GroovePages had some serious hype around it. I wanted to go through in-depth to share my findings with others good or bad. For me I have a side business where I am the main person running the business, and any form of marketing automation I can deploy to save time is ultimately what I am looking for.

I couldn’t sum up what GroovePages is in a sentence, the software is a membership site builder, it is an affiliate management software.it is marketing funnels, and it is email automation rolled up into a slick funnel building platform with all features accessible in 2 clicks.

What I found out is that this could be the opportunity of a lifetime, especially if you compare the pricing of GroovePages to other funnel builders like ClickFunnels, Karta or Kajabi. The GroovePages software has a 14-day trial, a Proplan and a lifetime plan.

The full suite of GrooveApps follows a similar sound like GroovePages, GrooveMail, GrooveBlogs etc.

I stumbled across GroovePages somehow and immediately took notice. A one time fee for more features than what my ClickFunnels account had and the winner UNLIMITED domains. I was all in. The sales page didnt sell it enough, logging in for the first time I could see the value right then and there how easy my online marketing was going to be from here on out.

What is GroovePages and why is this called GroovePages 2.0?

GroovePages is a cutting-edge landing page, website & funnel builder. The version 1 platform didnt have the focus behind that v2 does.

GroovePages vs Clickfunnels

GroovePages is using a progressive JavaScript framework called VUE:JS which means it’s much less limited than its competitors.

ClickFunnels is powered by Ruby on Rails an older codebase.

What makes this page builder different from Kartra of Clickfunnels is that the code is mostly loaded on the browser and does not make requests to a database. This means your website will load much faster. Most landing page builders use a technology called Bootstrap, an older codebase that is not in comparision to todays available options.

ClickFunnels limits your subscription to set number of domains and set actions and features. GroovePages does not you have unlimited everything when you purchase.

ClickFunnels support is helpful and I would rate GrooveApps support on par with ClickFunnels platform support.

ClickFunnels template library is very “templatey” feeling. GroovePages templates are more fluid in what they look like.

GroovePages is just coming out of beta testing for a full public launch and already has equal if not surpassed ClickFunnels in software features and they still have not rolled out all of the apps.

The team of GrooveDigital spent more than $100,000 to develop a tool that is now FreePageBuilder but this project was our deprecated. Unlike GroovePages with is build on a new mobile-friendly development framework FreePageBuilder uses an older technology that is similar to Karta’s Page Builder.

After being two years in development the “GrovePages 1.0” was scrapped for new Groovepages 2.0 which is a complete new software and the code was written from the ground up.
