SEO Nightmares Go Back To The Basics

SEO Nightmares Go Back To The Basics

Everyone who has an affiliate niche site will tell you right now that Google is messed up. Big Time. This has to be the most insane period between a perfectly functioning Google algorithm and pure chaos. Spam runs riot in search results, Reddit and big publishes are commanding every search term they wish to and all the small independent niche sites even those going over and above the normal to provide helpful content are getting pummelled into a bloody mess in the corner.

Google omni man vs invincible niche sites

My fave bug in the system is written by big media. The Verge has blatantly written a nonsense piss-take article on printer reviews but is still the best result even though they call Google out as not being able to read the article

If you’re facing similar challenges, here’s what can help:

Content

Usually the issue is content-based, We play chess with Google and competitors all day every day and the loop of it is as we make better content, the competitor will update their content and then we out do them and so on. The goal posts keep moving so our content almost becomes liquid in format and ever-evolving. We need to be smarter about how we create and format our content.

  • Review and rewrite intro and outro paragraphs. Make them as simple and welcoming as possible.
  • Make sure all existing content is optimized to target the correct keywords. You can check the intent of your target keyword by analyzing the top ranking competing pages that are similar to yours and bridging any content gaps between them.
  • Produce advanced guides to help rank for informational search queries which capture users at the bottom of the search funnel.
  • If you’re in a strict niche, perform deep keyword research to help guide your content plan and understand exactly what your target audience’s pain points are.

Backlinks

Take a look at your backlink profile, and that of your competitors to see what has changed, what’s not working for you and where there are clear gaps. I suggest also looking at what new platforms are available to supplement any brand-building and Web 2.0 platforms you may have.

  • Reverse-engineer the backlink profiles of important competitors by identifying relevant sites that are linking to their sites but not to yours.
  • Perform manual outreach to bridge any existing backlink gaps. You can use tools like Hunter.io to grab their email addresses. When outreaching, make sure to explain who you are, why you’re reaching out to them, and importantly, what you have to offer for their audience.
  • Build high-authority backlinks on relevant websites, keeping topical authority and relevance in mind.
  • Build some simple Web 2.0 links and fill these profiles out as you would any direct linking directory site profile. This won’t move the needle but it will help build trust and affirm that you have a brand online. This is one of the 1% items you need to do every so often.
technical seo audit

Technical SEO

When performance heads south I always dig into the details. My first port of call is always Screaming Frog. I’ll complete an in-depth audit and fix anything that’s in need of some TLC. Then I focus on GSC and looking at what Google tells me is an issue. Once that’s done I look at the website usability and load times. There are a lot of places to look when performance is down but always use a technical lens first to pick up what you can’t see on the front end.

  • While fixing core web vitals is important (in this case, installing a caching plugin like WPRocket moved the needle), don’t overlook the value of making manual tweaks like:
    • Changing and testing the functionality to consolidate CSS files.
    • Excluding images above the fold on key pages to improve loading speed.
    • Creating a script to preload above-the-fold images on key pages.
  • Increase the site’s usefulness by adding interactive tools. This not only showcases your authority within your industry, it also creates a linkable asset that users can share, generating organic backlinks.
  • Optimize your site’s design, especially the presentation of tables and charts, to make it easier for readers to digest information.

If you go back to the SEO basics when ever you hit a wall its always going to give you some uplift. The organic traffic platforms are a real mess right now but there’s a way forward.

Free Niche Ideas For Beginners

Free Niche Ideas For Beginners

After a couple of conversations on Twitter and in Facebook groups with people trying to get started building niche sites and starting their affiliate journey I noticed just starting was a blocker. The people had some idea of what to do once they had the niche selected but not what to do to narrow down and pick a niche.

Hopefully I can help you with this today. Im giving you some free niches to use and my own selection from that niche.

always ask for free sstuff

The Overview

What I look for in niches before I commit to building in them

  1. Is there an opportunity for revenue, for topic growth and for long term success
  2. Will I enjoy working in this niche, if it’s not fun or interesting I wont commit to putting in the work
  3. The niche has the data to convince me that its worth doing the work

That’s the simplest way for me to self-assess a niche before I start building my affiliate niche websites. I keep it to 3 core factors and that’s about it.

Factor 1: Niche Opportunity

The opportunity factor is me looking ahead, once I am 6-12 months in the niche I will be ready to start expanding my reach and sales opportunities. This is me asking myself before I pick the niche if

-I Can I grow this business once I get to xx traffic and
-Can I grow this business once I get to xx in sales,
-Can I target new category topics once I reach a set keyword coverage and
-Will this niche be good for long-term success.

If I can answer these questions and there’s still a decent opportunity then I’m giving the niche a tick.

Factor 2: Enjoyment in the Niche

The enjoyment factor is purely me asking myself can I write about car tires for 12-24 months and still enjoy doing it on the weekend, in the early hours of the morning and being happy to spend time doing this work. Does this niche excite me or do I know enough about the niche where I can do a lot of the keywords, content and ideas myself straight off the top of my head.

That’s the key to this assessment, self satisfaction doing the work.

Factor 3: Niche Market Data

The niche market data is your analytical inputs. Its where you look at the keyword data, you look at the competition sites, you do a lot of Googling and social media searching to see whats to there and what they are doing.

Its also looking at the affiliate networks and assessing if the niche pays peanuts or is worth putting the time and effort in. I look for multiple affiliate programs, I look for seller ratings and I look at the reviews of sales to see last time someone purchased, what did they say, how many reviews there and I can then do some maths based on the commission % I get, the product sales cost and review count to determine if its decent or not.

Changes You Need to Make To Succeed

Changes You Need to Make To Succeed

Starting a business, running a team and being responsible comes with high-stress activities like managing people, running budgets and reaching business targets. To overcome the challenge it takes work, dedication and a change in mindset. You as the leader, you as the manager need to have a vision and a way of making things happen that brings your team along the journey.

In this article, I’ll share some of my tips for making it all come together.

Changes to make in your business

Change 1: When working with my teams we actively try to avoid saying the word “Can’t” and swapping the words with more constructive words like “How can we” and “What is stopping us from doing this”. This gets the brain juices in a different position ready to tackle problems.

Change 2: We look at what has been done and is what we call stale, and we look at how can we make it better, and how can we twist the idea so that it has a unique blend to it. There are too many businesses that are legacy and have been doing the same thing for years. This needs to be part of your research, how can we make an old idea feel fresh.

We don’t settle for answers like “That’s the way it’s always been done” we like to break down the process and look under the hood to see if there is a better way.

Change 3: Change the mindset of jealousy into support and inspiration. When a team members earns a reward or hits a revenue milestone we don’t say that we are jealous as a team, we say wow that’s so cool we want to learn what steps you took, how you did it and how do you feel about achieving this milestone. Jealously has no place in a team environment.

Everyone get on the same page

Change 4: We are all so busy and in stressed states, we need to break this cycle. I like to change the focus point of busy to being focused, insanely focused on a target or a milestone for the bigger purpose of my company. When I hit that milestone we celebrate as a team. The work is tough and there’s lots of it but that’s why you scale teams up and down. Being busy can also mean busy going in circles. You can control stress levels by breaking big tasks into smaller ones and asking for help.

Change 5: Sharing the knowledge. I used to control all information streams into my team to the absolute micro detail. It was for good reason training juniors but in the long run it stemmed growth. Now I identify the learning styles of my team members and share knowledge to get new perspectives and alternative thoughts to my own.

Build a system for knowledge sharing and documentation for your information systems.

Build solid processes and systems

This slight change in my behaviour in itself has been highly valuable to the business we can cover more ground and have been much more flexible in our execution of strategies. It’s like having 4 of me and that has been huge for productivity.

Change 6: This is a direct result of Change 5, it means I need to talk more to my team, to my suppliers, to my affiliate managers and my network. I’m super introverted and often go for hours without speaking a word. This also doesn’t empower my people to make decisions, voice opinions or get advice when needed.

By me taking communications to a new level we have more direction, more support and clarity across the business. We asked for better commission rates for sending larger traffic volumes, we asked for better commissions for sending more relevant traffic to partners and we asked our customers for more feedback so that we could improve.

Change 7: Take the focus off the money. If you run teams taking pressure off them by not focusing on revenue at every turn, every meeting but instead show the target, then show people how they can play a part in reaching the target. This motivates the people to do their part.

brad pitt money ball money works

Change 8: Controlled growth. At times during the business cycle, you might see signs that it’s time to scale before you are ready because of opportunities. My advice is to take it slow assess the market and make your move when you think the times are right. Think about it before making business critical changes.

Change 9: Luck has nothing to do with it. If competitors get ahead of you it’s not luck, it you make it big it’s prob not just luck. The growth ingredient is always the work that you put in. If you plant the seeds the garden will grow. If you plant the seeds and water them you will see even more growth. As long as you document and systemise the process you can repeat the process again and again.

Take these changes seriously and you will make a positive impact on your business and your teams. Take it one step at a time, use what makes sense, and do not feel like you have to change everything to make progress. Having taken the journey as a solopreneur and a co-owner I’ve made mistakes and made every milestone I set my targets on. These changes have helped me get to where I am now. I hope this helps.

Maximizing Your Affiliate Earnings: Mastering Product Selection for Profitable Offers

Maximizing Your Affiliate Earnings: Mastering Product Selection for Profitable Offers

Affiliate marketing is a popular and effective way to earn money online. It involves promoting products or services on your website or blog and earning a commission for every sale or lead generated through your affiliate links. However, not all affiliate offers are created equal, and choosing the right ones can make a significant difference in your earnings.

Choosing the right affiliate offers is crucial because it determines the success of your affiliate marketing efforts. By selecting offers that align with your target audience’s interests and needs, you increase the likelihood of generating sales and earning commissions. In this article, we will explore different types of affiliate offers and provide tips on how to choose profitable ones to maximize your affiliate earnings.

Key Takeaways

  • Maximize your affiliate earnings by choosing profitable offers and understanding your target audience.
  • Digital affiliate offers can be easier to promote and have higher commission rates, but physical offers can also be profitable.
  • Beginners should focus on choosing offers with low competition and high demand.
  • Master your product selection strategy by analyzing demand, competition, and commission rates.
  • Select high revenue affiliate products to increase your earnings potential.
  • Read this if you are starting your affiliate marketing journey.

Choosing Digital Affiliate Offers

Digital affiliate offers refer to products or services that are delivered electronically, such as e-books, online courses, software, or membership sites. There are several advantages to promoting digital products as an affiliate. Firstly, digital products often have higher commission rates compared to physical products because there are no production or shipping costs involved. This means you can earn a higher percentage of each sale. Read for how I use crossover tactics for selling digital and physical.

Secondly, digital products are usually available for instant download or access, which means customers can receive their purchase immediately after making a payment. This instant gratification can lead to higher conversion rates and more sales for affiliates.

Examples of digital affiliate offers include promoting online courses on platforms like Udemy or Coursera, recommending e-books on Amazon Kindle, or promoting software products like Adobe Creative Cloud.

I really like affiliate promotions for physical items where I can get easy wins, this means word-of-mouth referrals, easy demos of products, and creating super clean product images, for this I like fashion affiliate, sneaker affiliate and furniture affiliate offers.

Online product side hustles for beginners

Choosing Physical Affiliate Offers

Physical affiliate offers refer to products that are tangible and require shipping or delivery, such as clothing, electronics, home appliances, or beauty products. While physical products may have lower commission rates compared to digital products due to production and shipping costs, they still offer several advantages for affiliates.

One advantage is that physical products often have a wider appeal and can attract a larger audience. Many people prefer to buy physical products because they can see and touch them before making a purchase. Additionally, physical products often have well-established brands and customer loyalty, which can make it easier to generate sales as an affiliate.

Examples of physical affiliate offers include promoting clothing brands like Nike or Adidas, recommending electronics from retailers like Best Buy or Amazon, or promoting beauty products from brands like Sephora or Ulta.

Choosing Profitable Affiliate Offers for Beginners

MetricsDescription
Average CommissionThe average amount of commission earned per sale.
Conversion RateThe percentage of visitors who complete a desired action, such as making a purchase.
GravityA measure of how many affiliates have successfully promoted the product in the past 12 weeks.
EPCEarnings per click, or the average amount earned per click on an affiliate link.
Reversal RateThe percentage of sales that are later reversed due to refunds or chargebacks.

For beginners in affiliate marketing, it is essential to choose profitable affiliate offers that have low competition. Starting with low competition products allows you to establish yourself in the market and gain experience before moving on to more competitive niches.

One tip for beginners is to focus on niche markets or specific product categories that have less competition. By targeting a specific audience or product category, you can become an expert in that area and build a loyal following. This can lead to higher conversion rates and more sales.

Examples of profitable affiliate offers for beginners include promoting niche health supplements, recommending specialized kitchen gadgets, or promoting unique handmade products on platforms like Etsy.

Understanding Your Target Audience

Understanding your target audience is crucial when choosing affiliate offers. By knowing who your audience is and what they are interested in, you can select products that are relevant and appealing to them. This increases the likelihood of generating sales and earning commissions.

One tip for identifying your target audience is to conduct market research. This can involve analyzing your website analytics to understand the demographics and interests of your visitors, conducting surveys or interviews with your audience, or using social media listening tools to monitor conversations related to your niche.

Read: You can make affiliate money in saturated niches.

Once you have identified your target audience, you can tailor your product selection to their needs and preferences. For example, if your audience consists of fitness enthusiasts, you can promote fitness equipment, workout programs, or nutritional supplements.

Mastering Product Selection Strategy

Having a product selection strategy is essential for maximizing your affiliate earnings. A product selection strategy involves identifying the types of products or services that are in high demand and align with your target audience’s interests.

One tip for creating a product selection strategy is to research popular trends and keywords in your niche. This can involve using keyword research tools to identify the most searched-for terms related to your niche or monitoring social media platforms and online forums to see what topics or products are currently popular.

Another tip is to consider the seasonality of certain products. For example, if you have a website or blog about gardening, you may want to promote gardening tools and supplies during the spring and summer months when people are more likely to be interested in gardening.

Analyzing Product Demand and Competition

Analyzing product demand and competition is crucial when choosing profitable affiliate offers. By understanding the demand for a product and the level of competition in the market, you can make informed decisions about which offers to promote.

One tip for analyzing product demand is to use keyword research tools to identify the search volume for specific keywords related to your niche. Higher search volume indicates higher demand for a product or topic. If the demand is there I would consider using a dedicated landing page for the offer, this ups your conversion rates by making it the feature of the page.

To analyze competition, you can use tools like Google Trends or SEMrush to see how many other websites or affiliates are promoting similar products. If there is high competition, it may be more challenging to generate sales and earn commissions.

amazon affiliates dissappointed at commission reduction

Evaluating Affiliate Commission Rates

Evaluating affiliate commission rates is an important factor in choosing profitable affiliate offers. While higher commission rates may seem more appealing, it is essential to consider other factors such as the product’s price point and conversion rate.

One tip for evaluating commission rates is to calculate the potential earnings based on the product’s price and commission percentage. For example, if a product has a $100 price tag and offers a 10% commission rate, you would earn $10 for every sale.

It is also important to consider the conversion rate of the product. A higher-priced product may have a lower conversion rate, meaning it may be more challenging to generate sales and earn commissions.

Selecting High Revenue Affiliate Products

Selecting high-revenue affiliate products can significantly impact your earnings. High-revenue affiliate products refer to products that have a high price point or offer upsells or recurring commissions.

One tip for selecting high-revenue affiliate products is to focus on products or services that have a high average order value. This means that customers tend to spend more money when purchasing these products, resulting in higher commissions for affiliates.

Another tip is to look for products or services that offer upsells or recurring commissions. Upsells are additional products or services that customers can purchase after their initial purchase while recurring commissions are earned for as long as the customer remains a subscriber or continues to use the product or service.

Ives used this tactic in dropshipping for years, high ticket income is worth the work you put in, over lots of small commissions spread out over the year Aim for 10 sales of your high ticket item a year if its got great commission, if not increase that target number so it makes sense. Read how I use high ticket dropshiping to get sales.

Implementing Your Product Selection Strategy

In conclusion, choosing the right affiliate offers is crucial for maximizing your earnings in affiliate marketing. By understanding your target audience, analyzing product demand and competition, evaluating commission rates, and selecting high-revenue affiliate products, you can increase your chances of generating sales and earning commissions.

Implementing a product selection strategy that aligns with your target audience’s interests and needs is key to success in affiliate marketing. By continuously monitoring market trends, conducting research, and adapting your product selection strategy accordingly, you can stay ahead of the competition and maximize your affiliate earnings.
