Shopify Apps for Ecommerce

Must Have Shopify Apps 2023

This post is for people searching for feature rich performance driven Shopify apps for their E-commerce store.

E-commerce brands use Shopify apps to enhance their online store’s functionality, automate tasks, and drive more sales and add new layers of functionality to their store on the front-end and back-end.

Here are some elevator pitches for some of the most popular types of Shopify apps:

  1. Product Sourcing: I need to be able to source filler products at ease and scale with some way of forecasting shipping costs and supply levels.
  2. Inventory Management is crucial to the success of delivering products to customers.
  3. Email Marketing is vital for repeat business and engaging new subscribers to my brands. I make a lot of money from my email marketing campaigns. You can send targeted emails to people in different stages of the buying cycle.
  4. Upselling and Cross-selling can extend revenue earnings by showing people who are about to buy some bundle options or 2-for-1 deals. This helps to increase your average order value and revenue.
  5. Social Proof will improve the authenticity of your brand and show transparency in the quality of your product. Reviews and proof of purchase go a long way with new shoppers who land at your store, they want to know if they will get what they pay for and if the price is worth it.
  6. Automating manual tasks within the store can not be skipped over. E-commerce is hard and requires a lot of time to do mundane manual tasks. You need a virtual assistant of sorts to help do the repetitive tasks for you and I’ll share some apps that help me do this in Shopify.
  7. Advertising can grow your business overnight, but you need to know what channels to focus on and what apps are not utter garbage. I’ve used hundreds in my time as a store owner and I’ll share the app that never lets me down.
  8. Abandoned Cart Recovery is your second chance at a sale, but it happens quite frequently so you must have a plan in place to capture these shoppers who almost became customers.
  9. Rewards programs and customer loyalty has helped me create strong pools of repeat customers I can tap into at any time to get a surge in sales. The apps that help you do this are worth the price per month. They allow you to send an email and make sales as simple as that
  10. Customising your sales pages can lead to a direct increase in conversions, sales, revenue and new product stickiness. You have to be able to make sexy landing pages fast. Depending on developers to get it done fast is not an advantage it’s a cash burn, make your own pages and you will be able to test fast, learn fast and know how shit hot your new product really is.

My two cents is that Shopify apps provide e-commerce brands with additional tools and capabilities to streamline operations, increase revenue, and optimise their online stores for better customer experiences.

Must Have Shopify Apps
Here are some Shopify apps that could be useful for maximizing your potential sales channels:

  1. DSer: If you plan to sell dropship products to expand your product offering, DSer is a must-have app that allows you to easily find and import products from AliExpress.
  2. Klaviyo: This app allows you to send automated and targeted email campaigns to your customers, helping you to increase sales and customer loyalty.
  3. Bold Upsell: This app allows you to create upsell and cross-sell offers, increasing your average order value and revenue.
  4. Yotpo: This app helps you generate and manage customer reviews and ratings, which can improve customer trust and boost sales.

  6. Kit: This app is a virtual assistant that can help you with various tasks, including social media marketing, email marketing, and more. Your own automated assistant that gives you more time back to do what matters the most.
  7. Google Shopping: This app allows you to advertise your products on Google, increasing your visibility and potential sales. I don’t recommend skipping Google shopping as a sales channel, it’s been very rewarding for me over the years.
  8. Recart: This app helps you recover abandoned carts by sending automated Facebook Messenger campaigns to your customers.
  9. Smile.io: This app allows you to create a rewards program that incentivizes customers to purchase more and refer their friends.
  10. Shogun: This app allows you to easily create custom landing pages and product pages, helping you to improve your website’s conversion rate.

Some Thinking About Apps

I want to use apps that make an impact on my customer experience and my revenue potential. I never add apps because they do 1 thing. Remember every app you add to your Shopify store adds a layer of load time to your store front-end experience.

Ultimately, the apps you choose will depend on your specific needs and goals. It’s important as a business owner that you and your team are researching and testing different apps to find the ones that work best for your business.

My Recommendation

The Ecommerce space is always changing. New apps are emerging with each new version of an app being better, faster and cheaper. Your app stack has to evolve past just using the same app because you know how it works. Better apps are always launching on the Shopify app store.

Bookmark a couple of apps for each part of the business and keep them as your backups for a rainy day when the app you use breaks, gets removed or just becomes unreliable (and they do) I like to know I have backups just to be safe. You could even get someone on fiver to do research for you and gather 4 of each type of app that you need.
