When I talk about finances in dropshipping businesses I look at the sales data and then I look at the revenue data. You have sales that you make but you also have revenue and from revenue thats where you draw a profit. The profit numbers are where you really understand if all your hard work is profitable and worth the effort.
Not every product is profitable and not every niche remains profitable. When Im analysing the revenue for niche dropship stores I need at a minimum 3 months of data. I can not draw a good picture with 1 or 2 months insights, it just does not allow enough time to have given it a fair go. The 3 months gives you enough time to have tried and tested the market.

From a purely numbers point of view, it makes sense. When you sell via dropshipping, you eliminate inventory risk, and you also save on costs associated with running a physical store. Just to put that into perspective, Intel earned $79 billion in revenue in 2018. That means if someone walked into your local store and bought just one of every product they saw on the shelf, that would generate an additional $79 billion in revenue for the retailer!
The dropshipping model itself is simple. We work pretty hard on building our store, organising the products, creating relationships with suppliers and building / testing ad campaigns, its not a walk in the park Ill say that openly. Dropshipping is a tough game, but we put in a lot of effort so we should be optimising our returns in every way shape and form possible to give us more from the same.
