Ive dropshipped a lot of different products, big, small, electronics, wood, simple, complex, cheap, high ticket and I have had some crackers go viral and have had crickets where nothing sold. I am not the guru of dropshipping. I am however a normal guy trying to do his research and sell products that he has found and thinks might have viability to make a good income from.
My insights will be formed by my own experiences, my budgets allocated to compete in the dropship space, knowledge of markets, tools and tactics and my commitment to working on my store and ad accounts. We may do step by step the exact same thing but have different outcomes. Walk your path but please by all means refer to what Ive done to guide you and help avoid mistakes.

There are 2 types of dropshipping styles
Having had a bit of exposure to ecommerce brands, building my own brands and dropshipping I can see two clear styles of dropshipping that is in the market right now. Ive done both and I know what the better options for me based on requirements and returns from effort out in. By no means do I suggest one is worse than the other both are very rewarding, but one requires less work.
The first style are the career dropshippers who hunt the trends and have a system they follow to sell mainly high ticket items like the automatics reclining massage chair above (image), they have a plan, dedicated budgets, capitial and can build out teams.
The second style is more run and gun, chasing trends and fads, building single product stores and advertising aggressively. Typically this style sells cheaper items with lower margins, is constantly fighting off competition and moves very fast.
Both can be very lucrative and rewarding. Ive had a style 2 store that sold products like they were going out of fashion and it was very rewarding financially but also a lot of work was involved. Each has its own pros and cons and you should always pick a style that best suits how you work. You can also have stores doing dofferent styles, I have many stores and some test stores follow style 2 very agile and lean while my bigger stores follow style 1 having a lot systems in place and assigned advertising budgets.
The great thing is even if you pick one and it doesn’t fit with your style you can change it over the course of a weekend its that easy. You have complete control, you also don’t hold inventory or have anything physical weighing you down so pivoting is not going to be a big ordeal.
How to start researching products for dropshippers
Starting an online dropship business in 2021 will be the most profitable and hottest online business to get involved in. It’s super simple to set up, requires almost no inventory and allows you to make huge profits on sales you might not even make otherwise. It’s easy to get started, and it costs almost nothing. All you have to do is set up an ecommerce store on your website, copy products from another ecommerce store to your website, and then start promoting those products on social media and search engines. Very easy. Finding the best products to sell via drop shipping is the hard part. Once you do that, all you have to do is create your website, write an announcement about your best products, and watch your orders pour in.
The winning products in your dropship store will be those that you are able to identify and add to your inventory. It’s up to you to make sure you are offering the “best of the best. After you have identified the market, you have to select the best products to sell to that market. If you don’t do this, your product mix will be substandard, which will result in a lower than maximized revenue.
Your goal is to come up with as many profitable ideas as you can. Don’t worry about competition at this stage. Just keep an eye out for niches with low competition. That will make your job easier later when you’re picking products to sell and optimizing your marketing campaigns. You can also choose to go with niches and dropshipping products that are high search volume. Or you can stay away from the craze and go for products that won’t fly off the shelves just because they’re selling like crazy. You don’t have to take my word for it.
Don’t be fooled into thinking a product must have more features to make it easier to promote and sell, this is not the case. Often the simple feature set can be enough to connect with the customer. You’ll have to select the ones that are right for you and your market. Your goal is to be the one-stop-shop for your customers. If you do this properly, you’ll be able to offer very low prices and high-quality products and services and make a nice profit doing it.
What Type of Dropshipping Products Sell More?
If you’re looking for the fastest way to make money, then dropshipping might not be for you. It’s not for everyone. Someone will purchase your product if they like it. You don’t have to do anything. If you’re selling an info product, the customer will most likely be another customer of yours. If you’re selling a product with a price, the customer will almost certainly be someone who is already a customer of yours. This is absolutely true. Anything can sell if you simply arrange it in an interesting manner and give it proper attention.
A successful (impulse buying) dropshipper is someone who buys what they want, when they want it, and at the lowest price possible. If you have an established ecommerce business, buying power comes from your bank account. Ive even tried some quickfire small priced items like a mixed bag of useful products under ten dollars these would include baby food pouches, kitty litter boxes, meat thermometers, pepper sprays, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquids, cleaning tools, etc Ive done this some times they work but most of the time the sub $5 purchase price of dropship products just didnt become profitable.
You only have to make the ad attractive and keep the price low. You don’t have to memorize any scripts. Just take the info provided by Amazon and run with it. Here’s what you need to do: An attractive advertisement is the hook that will induce the people to buy the product. Of course, you tell them the price. If they don’t have the cash or credit cards to buy it right away, you offer to hold their order for a few days while they get the money together. The price should be low enough so they get sold instantly. If they don’t get sold instantly, you haven’t priced them correctly.

How to gauge product popularity
It’s almost impossible to find unique dropship products that no one else is selling, I cant say Ive ever seen something that no one else was selling. You can sell what others sell. There is no problem with this. As long as you are the only seller who offers this product with a unique twist or compelling copy, you will have a huge advantage over your competitors by matching problem and solution. This is half the battle, you just need traffic to your sales page to know if you have great product description copy.
For obscure products the lower competition will cause your products to appear higher in the search results. This gives you a huge advantage over your competition. The positives for weird products is yes they have smaller demand but they usually in my experience have higher search intent by customers. Less competitive is good and having less existing content to compete with.
Having products that are mainstream popular and in demand you have the option to ride the wave of popularity and get some sales off the back of the product. You can be very profitable because of the volume of demand for the product but you will also be facing x2,000 more competitors where as not so popular products wont have the number of competitors selling them making it easier.
My advice for product popularity is this: Find a niche like Cars parts. Have a look at the big name car parts ecommerce stores around the type of categories they use to break up their car accessories products. In this example you may look at this trail of niche inspecting – Car Parts > Steering Wheels > Covers > Padded Comfort Steering Wheel Covers
You can see how niche specific that example is. The people searching for that will be very interested in this product based on a problem that they have. The example we used will be ideal for people who have sensitive hands, gripping problems. The product helps them by providing a solution to their existing problem. This is the shift in thinking about popularity. To the people searching for this product they know what they need to fix and are just looking for a product that does that.
In short we are using a key topic and exploring the sub topics and from there looking at the very granular level product solutions to use for dropshipping. The reason we do this is to have a product for a already interested market, while smaller the people looking for these products are more likely to purchase given the specifics of this products problem solving features.
Life improvement products like air purifiers, exercise equipment, weight-loss programs, personal development books and audio tapes and so forth. If the price is a little high, it’s not a big deal. As long as you can show through your product videos that the product will improve their lifestyle, then people will surely buy them.

There are over 100,000 results for it on Amazon, and it’s getting a lot of attention from the online community. To make a profit from this niche, you need to target younger customers and sell them specialized “toolkits” for solving those occasional problems that arise when using their tools. Some of the most popular products in this niche on Aliexpress include: electric screwdrivers, handy plastic welders, electrician scissors and many others that you can explore.

I have a simple super-effective checklist that simplifies the arduous task of finding the best products to dropship.
